             abstract = "This work describes a temporal analysis of land use 
                         intensification carried out around riverine and {"}terra firme{"} 
                         communities located in Santar{\'e}m and Belterra municipalities, 
                         Par{\'a} State. The analysis was performed for communities 
                         located in different economic and institutional contexts such as, 
                         protected lands, Incra´s settlements project, and cattle ranching 
                         and soya farms regions. The intensification gradient was obtained 
                         from the analysis of land use and land cover data using a cellular 
                         database. The AHP technique was used to integrate land use cover 
                         data and to estimate the gradient of intensification. We observed 
                         that intensification increased along the years, especially in the 
                         production grain region. In riverside communities region, a lower 
                         level of land use intensification was observed, related to 
                         familiar agriculture. The results showed that the level of 
                         intensification varies according to land use and land tenure 
                         context. The results are important to subsidize local and regional 
                         economic development politics.",
